St Theresas Albion - Wurrundjeri Acknowledgement Mural and Bunjil mural

Two murals are happening at St Theresa's at Albion.
These murals have been funded by the parents and friends fundraising.

Firstly we are making an acknowledgement mural which will go under an existing artwork at the school, the fabulous 'Bunjils Nest', which was made by families a few years ago. Students have made native plant tiles for the border and then the word tiles made with sausage letters, a very tricky job. well done students!
Secondly we are making a mural of Bunjil which will go nearby. We have permission to do this mural of Bunjil from the Wurundjeri Elders from the Wurundjeri Tribe Land and Compensation Cultural Heritage Council. We are trying to make it look as close to a wedgetail eagle as possible. The feathers on Bunjil have been made by 75 students over 4 hours, so he is a very special artwork. Here are some pictures of the two days of workshops; claywork in progress!
